Concept guide

Sensitivity

Also used: sensitivity analysis · numerical sensitivity

How a chosen output or conclusion changes when specified inputs or settings change. Global sensitivity analysis can attribute output uncertainty to uncertain inputs.

An example from the writing

The folding study refines numerical integration to check whether computed coefficients, energies and events change.

A common misconception

Stability under one small change establishes insensitivity everywhere.

That inference does not follow. Read the result together with its scope below.

Scope and limits

This example is a numerical sensitivity check, not a global variance decomposition. Agreement on known roots does not enumerate unknown branches.
